Look Good, Feel Better
The expert staff at Birmingham Varicosity Vein Center cares about helping you the right way that fits your needs.
When it comes to venous diseases like spider veins and varicose veins, it's important to have a variety of solutions to address your individual needs and preferences for treatment. One such solution is our Varithena ablation treatment.
Inject Comfort Back Into Your Life
Ablation procedures use methods that involve shrinking or completely removing the troubled vein area. Varithena® ablation works by injecting a special foam into the vein walls of any regions with venous insufficiency. The foam then shrinks those areas, enabling your body to redirect blood flow into healthy veins and absorb the old ones.
Float on a Cloud of Relief
Alike the Endovenous Laser Ablation treatment, Varithena® is relatively quick, minimally invasive, and painless.
The other immediate benefits depend on your specific situation but can include eliminating pain and discomfort caused by varicose veins, and even making it so they are no longer visible. During your consultation, your provider will determine whether if Varithena or Endovenous Laser Ablation is the right treatment for you.
Be Our Guest
Varicose veins and spider veins can cause discomfort and pain, pose potential long-term health risks, and some may even find them unsightly on their own skin. If you are experiencing any of these issues and would like to finally get your problem veins taken care of, you could be a good candidate for Varithena® ablation.
Sit Back and Relax
On the day of your procedure, you will be put under twilight sedation. Once you are relaxed, your doctor will use a special catheter to access the troubled veins and administer the foam to begin the shrinking process.
The process only takes about 30 to 60 minutes, after which the doctor will perform mobility testing to ensure the procedure was successful. You will receive specific care instructions before you are sent home. This procedure requires mild sedation, so you will be asked to have someone drive you home. You should feel ready to return to normal activities starting the next day.
Health and Beauty Right Around the Corner
For the first two weeks following your Varithena® ablation procedure, you may be required to wear compression socks, avoid strenuous activity such as heavy lifting, running, and jumping, and avoid hot baths. If you have any bandages on the treated area, you will be provided with instructions for changing them and watching for signs of infection.
A Gift to Yourself
It can take up to six weeks to see the full benefits of Varithena Ablation. However, most people will immediately notice much healthier-looking skin and start to feel relief from pain and discomfort. Results will vary slightly depending on how severe your chronic venous insufficiency is. Be sure to follow your post-care instructions for the best possible outcome.
